Public Community Event

CICLOVIA

The Ciclovia encompasses a memorable way to bring people together and build hope towards a healthy future, supporting more choices and access for transportation while celebrating our vibrant and diverse neighborhood! Before any improvements are implemented, we strive to give a fun and interactive platform for community members to voice their opinions and learn more about these new ideas!

STOCKTON BLVD

Stockton Boulevard is a major corridor in Sacramento that connects South Sacramento and Elk Grove to Midtown. Everyone is welcome to participate in the spatial rein-visioning of Stockton Boulevard for half a day. This is an opportunity to help everyone familiar with Stockton blvd to visualize potential alternatives of safe transportation.

Mission

Our overall mission is to provide community residents with the resources they need to envision safe transportation in their neighborhood. This includes anything from public transit, safe transportation systems, and the increased use of alternative modes of transportation.

Public Transportation

Current transportation systems in Sacramento are too convoluted and separated for community members to use public transit efficiently. We strive to provide community residents with a comprehensive, easily understandable guide to their local transportation systems.

Activties

We strive to provide engaging and interactive activities to guests of all ages. These include games for children such as bike rodeos and corn holes, while also engaging adults by utilizing spin-the-wheel trivia, good food, good music, and interactive transportation models. With the help of JUMP & LIME, we will also provide transportation demonstrations to guests to help envision a new kind of community transit.

Volition Gardens carries this work forward with the goal of operationalizing the solutions to advocate burnout identified in this report.
